Credit Information Reporting Agency Pte Limited (CIRA) - Frequently Asked Questions
We help lenders and businesses make safe and fair credit decisions. We collect and share credit history information (with your consent) so that customers can be trusted based on their past payment behavior.
We follow the Fair Reporting of Credit Act 2016 (FROCA 2016), and we are supervised by the Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF). Your privacy and rights are protected by law.
Only businesses that are registered with the Reserve Bank of Fiji as Credit Report Recipients (CRRs) or Credit Information Providers (CIPs) can access your credit report, and only for approved purposes — such as when you apply for credit and give your consent.
Yes. A business must have your written consent before they can conduct a credit check.
No. This is not allowed under the law. Every access is logged and monitored. You can contact us or the Reserve Bank of Fiji if you believe your report has been viewed without your consent.
You can request one directly from us for a low cost ($25 VEP). Reports can be collected in person from our Suva office. Checking your own report does not affect your credit score.
It includes your basic identity information, any overdue accounts reported by credit providers, and records of formal loan or credit applications (enquiries). It does not include your salary, savings, or bank account balances.
You can take it up with the registered member company if the information relates to them and request for them to review and amend if incorrect. If unresolved you can then bring it to us to investigate.
Defaults may remain on your report as long as they are unpaid. Once fully paid, they may remain for up to two years in line with the FROCA 2016.
They securely upload information to our system and are required to ensure it is accurate, complete, and up to date. All updates are tracked and audited.
No. We only provide credit information. The final decision to approve or decline a loan is made by the lender.
Your data is encrypted, stored securely, and access is strictly controlled and recorded. Only trained and authorized users can view credit reports. We also maintain strong cybersecurity and data protection policies.
We do not send your credit information overseas. Only locally registered and RBF-approved members can access your credit information.
It’s a service that lets businesses know if new activity is linked to you (for example, a new loan enquiry). No financial details are shared — it’s just an alert. This service is also covered by the consent you give.
In the unlikely event of a data breach, we will notify the Reserve Bank of Fiji and affected individuals as soon as possible and take immediate steps to secure the data.
If you do not get a satisfactory response from the registered member company which the dispute is related to you can contact us directly to lodge a complaint or correction request. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may contact the Reserve Bank of Fiji for further assistance.
